SUSTAINABILITY

Lionheart Swim ensures sustainability right from production through packaging. Our first collection is manufactured ethically and under fair conditions in Bali, Indonesia. The fabric of our bikinis are made in Italy from 100% recycled materials, whilst still remaining premium luxe quality. We try our best to handle all parts and steps as sustainable as we can.

FABRIC

Lionheart Swim is made with premium Italian fabric. Our black bikinis contain 78% ECONYL® regenerated nylon (which consists of waste like old fishing nets, carpet flooring, fabric scraps and industrial plastic from landfills and oceans all over the world) and 22% elastane, whereas our cowhide bikinis contain 78% recycled polyester (obtained from post-consumer recycled PET Bottles) and 22% elastane.

PRODUCTION

The first collection is made in Bali at a fair & ethical factory. Bali has become the home away from home of our founder which is why it was very important to support the local people providing them a fair and safe workplace.

SWIMWEAR ACCESSOIRES

The hangtags of our Collection 01 are made of recycled paper, which can be 100% recycled. In your bikini bottom you will find a hygienic liner also made of paper.

SCRUNCHIES
The scrunchies are made out of the leftover fabric from our bikinis from Collection 01 and are gained during the cutting process to reduce the waste of fabric. Our black scrunchies contain 78% ECONYL® regenerated nylon (which consists of waste like old fishing nets, carpet flooring, fabric scraps and industrial plastic from landfills and oceans all over the world) and 22% elastane, whereas our cowhide scrunchies contain 78% recycled polyester (obtained from post-consumer recycled PET Bottles) and 22% elastane.

MAILERS

Our mailers are zero waste plastic bags made of 100% upcycled material. The mailing bag is labeled with Ethical Pack, which is an assurance that the packaging comes from sustainable production. These bags are made in Denmark of 100% recycled plastic and leave a minimal carbon footprint. The LD-PE plastic is made from leftover plasticfilm from the production of conventional bags, that otherwise would have been gone to waste. The mailer is equipped with a return closure, to save the environment additional packaging when returning the swimwear or you can also reuse it for personal use. When you have no more use for the shipping bag, please recycle it correctly in the yellow garbage can or the yellow trash bag.

ECONYL REGENERATED NYLON
ECONYL® yarn is an innovative, sustainable and 100% recycled nylon fiber. After 5 years of development and investment, the Italian company Aquafil launched the fiber in 2011 and received the German sustainability award in 2014.
Instead of using crude oil as in conventional nylon production, waste such as production waste from nylon production, scraps of fabric, old carpets or fishing nets are used for the prodction of ECONYL® nylon.

All collected waste is sorted and recovered to nylon in an innovative technical cleaning and regeneration process - the ECONYL® Regeneration System.
The end product is high quality fibers that are in no way inferior to pure nylon.
Properties of ECONYL® yarn is not only environmentally friendly and sustainable, it is also very fine, durable and tear-resistant. Just like nylon or other polyamides, ECONYL® is characterized by strength, water resistance and quick drying, which makes it simply the first choice for our swimwear.
ECONYL® regenerated nylon is not only a clever solution for processing waste in a meaningful way and giving it a new life, but also contributes to climate targets: 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved for the production of 10,000 tons of ECONYL®, thus avoiding 65,100 tons of CO2 emissions.
